Robert HINES

Robert HINES was born May 3rd 1826, near Rumney (then the county seat of Hampshire county, Virginia) and departed this life on Feb. 22nd 1908. He was the eldest son of Thomas and Nancy HINES, there being four children of them - Robert, Martha, Mary, and Thomas. His parents moved to Missouri when he was two years of age, his father dying when he was eleven years old, leaving him to the training of a devoted Christian mother; therefore he led a good Christian life and was a member of the Methodist Church. March 21st, 1847, he was married to Miss Luvisa RYBOLT, who died about 21 years ago. To this union were born two daughters (Mrs. Mollie FOSTER and Mrs. Olive BENEDICT) and one son (John T. HINES) all of whom, together with one sister (Mrs. Mary RYBOLT) six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and a large number of other relatives and friends, are left to mourn his death. "Uncle Bob," as he was familiarly called, will be greatly missed in the neighborhood where he lived about fifty-two years. Weep not, dear ones, for our loss is God's gain.-M.D.H.

[NOTE: Robert Hines was the son of Thomas & Nancy (McBride) Hines. Thomas & Nancy migrated to Lincoln County in 1828 from Hampshire Co., WV. Robert & Luvisa had 3 children: Mary, Olive & John. John Hines' son was J.T. Hines. Children of Thomas & Nancy (McBride) Hines were: Robert b. 1826, Martha Jane b. 1828, Mary Ellen b. 1831 & Thomas Jr. b. 1834.]
