Obituary for Arlie Henry Helmich
(1911-2002)Funeral services for Arlie Henry HELMICH of Moscow Mills, Mo., were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at Friedens United Church of Christ in Moscow Mills. The Rev. Eugene Rahmier officiated. Interment followed in Friedens Cemetery.
Mr. HELMICH, 91, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 at his home. He was born Sept. 28, 1911, in Moscow Mills. He was married on Aug. 23,1938, in Troy, to Laura GERDEMAN.
He attended Buchanan High School and went on to college at Central Wesley in Warrenton. He then graduated from Kirksville Teacher College. He taught school for nine years at Keelstone Rural School and then in Moscow School. He also worked on the family farm for most of his life. He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ since November of 1955 and he served on the church board in many capacities. He was a 4-H leader and a member of the Moscow Mills Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Laura HELMICH of Moscow Mills; daughter, Linda Jo SULLIVAN and husband, Ronald Joseph of Moscow Mills; two sisters-in-law, Mary Jane HELMICH of Troy and Anna Mae SCHEER of Lees Summit; one granddaughter, Darla Jean SULLIVAN of Springfield, many nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers were Jim MARTIN, Mike MARTIN, Gerald MARTIN, Gene SCHULTE, Bobby THORNHILL and Marvin HIMMEL.
Visitation was held from 2-8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6 at Kemper-Marsh-Millard Funeral Home- Troy Chapel and also from 1-2 p.m., Saturday at Friedens United Church of Christ in Moscow Mills.
Memorials may be made to the Friedens Church, Moscow Mills Lions Club and Moscow Mills Field of Dreams.
