Obituary for Herbert Arthur Heimburger (1892-1972)

    …..  Early in World War I, Mr. HEIMBURGER joined the Canadian Princess
Pat Regiment.  After the United States became involved the great conflict,
he transferred to the U.S. Marine Air Force.

    On October 15, 1923, he was married to the former Miss CLARA PENN
COTTLE, OF Troy, in a ceremony performed in the Troy Methodist Church.
During the earliest part of their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. HEIMBURGER lived in
St. Louis.  He was with Wagner Electric Co. of St. Louis and was transferred
to Springfield, Mass., where they lived until 1935.  While living in Mass.,
both of their children were born.  From Springfield, Mr. HEIMBURGER was
transferred to Chicago, then to Cincinnatti (sic).  In January of 1940, the
family moved to Troy where he opened a heating and plumbing.  He operated
this until 1967 on a full time basis, and since then, he has operated it on
a part time basis.

    Preceding Mr. HEIMBURGER in death were his parents: two grandson:
DANIEL J. and HERBERT M. SULLIVAN; three brothers: DR. LEROY HEIMBURGER,
DOUGLAS HEIMBURGER and FRANK HEIMBURGER.

    He is survived by his devoted wife, CLARA PENN, of their residence; his
daughter, LUCY BELLE and her husband, JOHN L. SULLIVAN, of Silex, his son
SHERMAN HEIMBURGER and his wife, LINDA, of Nashville, Ind.;  seven
grandchildren: THOMAS, KATHERINE, CYNTHIA and KENNETH SULLIVAN and BART,
DAVID and FRANCES HEIMBURGER; two sisters: Mrs. ESTELLE BRYAN and her
husband, ALLAN, of Garden Grove, Calif., and Mrs. MONETT KUPIEC and her
husband, A.J. of LaJolla, California; three nieces, four nephews, several
cousins, and many, many friends.

    Mr. HEIMBURGER was a member and an Elder of the Toy Presbyterian Church.
He was a A.F.& A.M. No. 34 of Troy, and was Past Master of that lodge; he
was a member of the Scottish Rite, and of the Shrine.  He was also a member
of the Troy Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.  He had served as president of
the Troy Rotary Club and had been very active in Scout work.  He has served
as Scout Master for Troy for several years, and had also held district
offices.

    Mr. HEIMBURGER enjoyed being with his family.  A few years ago, he and
Mrs. HEIMBURGER purchased property in South Missouri, and they spent some of
their happiest times there with their family.

    Mr. HEIMBURGER was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and
uncle; he was dependable in all his organizational work, and he was a good
neighbor.  He lived a good full life, a life of which his family is proud.
They will all miss Mr. HEIMBURGER greatly, but throughout the rest of their
lives, they will be grateful for his life which so greatly enriched theirs.

    Funeral services for Mr. HEIMBURGER were conducted by the REV TED MATKIN
Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home in Troy.
Miss SHERI LaRUE was the organist.

    Immediately following the funeral service, the Troy Lodge AF & AM No.
34, gave the Masonic service with JOHN KUHNE as Acting Worshipful Master.
The members of the lodge also acted as honorary pallbearers.  Active
pallbearers were LES SCHLOEMANN, CURT TAYLOR, ELDON TURNBULL, SHELBY
HARRELL, HARRY LEEDOM, TOM DAVIS, HAINES MOORE and MARTIN SENTMAN.
Interment was in the Troy City Cemetery.
