Obituary for David Carrell Groce (1907-1976)

David Carrell GROCE passed away Thursday August 26, 1976 in Glendale Samaritan Hospital, Glendale, MO after a lingering illness.

Mr. GROCE was born April 23, 1907, five miles south of Troy, MO., the second of six children born to David Warren and Josephine GROCE.

His early life was spent in this neighborhood, having attended Rock Spring grade school and graduated from Troy Buchanan High School in 1925.

After graduation he worked in St. Louis several years where he was employed by Kroger Grocery Co.

In later years he moved to Mexico, MO, where he operated a real estate and monument business.

Several years ago he moved to Phoenix for health reasons.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; their only child, Donald GROCE, his wife, Shirley, and their four children, Greg, Brian, Patricia and Keith of Annandale, Virginia; one brother, Gerald GROCE and his wife Lydia, of St. Louis; three sisters, Vera HUNN of Troy; Ethel Groce CHAN and her husband, Dr. Paul CHAN of Hong Kong; and Vivian BRITTON and her husband, Joseph Russell BRITTON of Glendale, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews; besides many other relatives and friends.

His father and mother and one sister, Verna GROCE Getty of Chicago, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 28, 2 p.m. from T. E. Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville, MO., with burial in Linn Cemetery of Wentzville beside his parents and sister.
