John L. GARRISON was born in Illinois in 1836, moved to Missouri in early childhood and died in Jennings, La., October 13, 1906. I was initmately acquainted with this dear brother for over forty years. He married Miss Candace GIBSON of Warren County, who survives him. Two of his three daughters died in early womanhood. He taught school for many years in Lincoln county. He moved from here to Saverton, Ralls County, about twenty years ago, and afterwards to Hannibal, where he was always a faithful worker in the church. Many will miss him and love his memory.

He was a great sufferer for years, and at Hannibal and Quincy under the care of skilled physicians every thing was done to allevate his suffering and restore him to health. A change of climate brought no relief.

He joined the Methodist church in early life under the ministry of Dr. B. F. Johnson and adorned the doctrines of our holy Christianity through the sunshine and the shadows of his future life. His wife wrote to me that during the last few months of his suffering he patiently bore it without a murmur. That in death the happy smile upon hs face showed that the God who he had so faithfully served was able to keep him until his soul ran up the shining way.----------------------- His funeral was preached by Bro. Doss, of Jennings, La. where his body lies awaiting the Master's call------ J.B.Allen
