Obituary for Anna Mary "Ann" Broyles Fielder
(1851-1932)Mrs. W. F. FIELDER, nee BROYLES, was born January 13, 1851 and departed this life on April 7, 1932. Aunt Mary was the daughter of Harriet and Augustus BROYLEs and was the last of 14 children, most of them having lived to be past 70 years of age.
Aunt Ann, as everyone called her, was 81 years, 2 months, and 27 days old. Her health failed several years ago and she suffered much at times, but always bore her suffering bravely.
In her early life she united with the Christian Church, then at Elm Grove, which has since been moved to Davis, Missouri. On account of ill health she could not attend Church as she would have liked to, but read her Bible a great deal and would always speak of her faith and trust in her Saviour. Whenever her loved ones would come to see her, she would ask them to sing. One of her favorite songs was, "Lord, I'm Coming Home." She would always request this song, and it was sung at her funeral by Mrs. Alice Ricks and Mrs. Dick Buckingham of Winfield, and Frank Taylor of Briscoe, Missouri.
Aunt Ann spent almost all of her life at the old home place and had the care of her father for several years. At her father's death, it fell to her to be her mother's companion for a number of years. At the death of her mother, Miss Mamie BROYLES, now Mrs. Mamie WOMBLES, came and made her home with Aunt Ann for 13 years.
On October 24, 1906, Aunt Ann was married to William F. (Billie) FIELDER, who cared for her all through her sickness and who is now left broken hearted.
Besides her aged husband, she leaves a number of nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Her funeral was conducted in Briscoe Church, Sunday afternoon by the Rev. J. S. Hames, Assisted by Rev. M. D. Dudley, and her remains were laid to rest in the Broyles family a cemetery.
