Obituary for Iva Mae Eppard (1917-1988)

Mrs. Iva Mae EPPARD passed away at 12:24 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, 1988 at the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital in Troy. She had attained the age of 71 years, 10 months and one day.

She was born February 20, 1917 near Medford, Wisconsin, a daughter of Hobart M. and Neoma Rose LYTLE EDWARDS. She spent her early years in Medford and at age 10 she moved to Cameron, Mo. with her family and later to Birchtree, Mo. where she later graduated from the eighth grade. Following her education, she worked as a governess for a family in Chicago. She later returned to the Cameron, Mo. area where she met and on September 23, 1939 was united in marriage with Lloyd E. EPPARD. To this union were born five children: a daughter, Bonnie and four sons, Lloyd L. (Zeke), Bart, Jerry and Michael. About 1948 the Eppard’s moved to the Moscow Mills area where they lived ever since.

Mrs. EPPARD was a person whose family was the most important part of her life. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and she was always there when they needed her. She liked flowers and in years past enjoyed working in the garden. She was a long time member of the Friedens United Church of Christ and active as her health would permit in their senior citizen activities. She was also a member of the Troy VFW Auxiliary #8828.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 49 years of the home, one daughter, Bonnie EPPARD of Moscow Mills, three sons, Bart EPPARD and his wife, Doris, of Moscow Mills, Jerry O. EPPARD and wife, Betty of Troy and Michael E. EPPARD and wife, Fran, of St. Peters, Mo.; three sisters, Fern STAPLETON and husband, Roy of Cowgill, Mo., Jean TWELLMAN and her husband, Richard of Moscow Mills and Dixie HOFF of Cameron, Mo.; five brothers, Donald EDWARDS and wife, Betty of Centralia, Mo., Ted EDWARDS of Kingston, Mo., Jake EDWARDS and wife, Martha of Pontiac, Michigan, Jim EDWARDS and wife, Ruth of Cameron and Jack EDWARDS of Cameron; one aunt, Iva LOGAN of Rockford, Illinois; 18 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Lloyd L. (Zeke) EPPARD, one sister, Evelyn BAKER and two brothers, Roy and Bill EDWARDS.

Mrs. Iva Mae EPPARD will be sadly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved her.

Visitation for Mrs. EPPARD was held from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, December 22 and from 9 a.m. until noon Friday at the McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home, 1304 Boone Street, Troy, Mo. and from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. services at the Friedens United Church of Christ, Moscow Mills, Mo. Officiating was the Rev. Dr. John Riggs. Mrs. Mary Margaret Meyer was the organist. Serving as soloist and accompanying himself on the guitar was Paul Kline. He sang "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art". Interment followed in the Friedens Cemetery, Moscow Mills, Missouri. Serving as casket bearers were Daniel and David TORRES, Harlan HARMON, Herald SCHAPER, Ellis FEITH and Scott HUNN. Serving as honorary casket bearers were Dusty EPPARD, Byron HUNN and Buddy FEITH.

In memory of Mrs. EPPARD, contributions may be made to the Friedens United Church of Christ.

The EPPARD family was served by the McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home of Troy, Mo.
