Pringle Elmore, Dead
Again it becomes our duty to chronicle the death of a friend and native son of this locality. On the 7th day of November, 1879 the subject of this sketch came into this world and for many years made happy the home of his parents T. L. and Mary ELMORE. He lived with his parents until he reached his majority when he went to Illinois and remain until 1904 when he journeyed to Nebraska where he resided until May 1909. A few years ago he contracted what is commonly known as tuburculosis and since this time has traveled a great deal for his health. Much of his time was spent in Texas, but finding no relief there he went to Arizona where he remained until a few weeks ago when he came home to his loved ones to be with them during his brief period of life which he realized was coming to a close. He departed from this life at the home of his sister Mrs. Frank DICKMAN, Sunday afternoon September 28th 1913 at the age of 33 years, 10 months and 23 days. The funeral service was held at the Hawk Point Baptist church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Oscar GORDON officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Hawk Point cemetery beside his father who preceeded him to the unknown world a few years ago. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and freinds followed his remains to the silent city of the dead.

He had never identified himself with any church organization but his last words were expressive of peace ub God and willingness to depart and be at rest with Him. His cheerful, helpful life, his devotion to his aged mother and family and kindness to everybody will longer long as a sweet memory in the home which his presence brightened and death has darkened. Besides a devoted mother he leaves three brothers and two sisters to mourn his departures. They are Mrs. Mary ELMORE, his mother of this locality, Wm. ELMORE of Colorado Springs; Jeff ELMORE of Old Monroe; Mrs. Fanny BARLEY of Hawk Point and Mrs. Frank DICKMAN of near Warrenton, besides a number of other relatives who reside in this locality.  To these loved ones we wish to say that if we live in the faith of Him who came to redeem us we will find that behind each storm could always lurks the rainbow and when the storm is past is weeps unpon the flowers of the land the the pearls of the sea. And so from the beauty of this life, with the promise of God fulfilled, take an inspiration and goforth and live in the faith of one Redeemer, so that when the summons comes you may say "All is well." It is Gods way, His will be done.

Note regarding clippings from the "Mattie Davis Martin Collection":   Mattie Davis Martin (1875-1943) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO.   She collected a large file of obituary clippings of Lincoln County residents' deaths.  The majority of the clippings were without citation, and kept stored in an old purse. Doris Martin Jablonski, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion on our Lincoln County Heritage/Records Page.
