Nicholas Dunard (headline)
died at the home of his son, six miles north of Troy, April 19, 1902. Funeral services
were conducted there Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock, by Rev. B.F. DeJARNETT, after which
the remains were interred at the Sulphur Lick cemetery.
He was born August 31, 1825, at Swampfield, High State, Germany, and came to this country
at the age of 20. May 4, 1854, he was married to Miss Adaline NAGLE, the union being
blessed with nine children, six of whom are living: Fritz, of Matson (could be Maison or
Malson), Mo; Charlie, Linn's Mill; Sophia JUGERSMEIER, Truxton; Henry, Jonesburg;
David, Wright City, and July, with whom he has made his home for the past ten years. His
wife preceded him to the grave 27 years.
Mr. Dunard served in both the Mexican and civil wars, spending nineyears as a soldier. He
was a member of the Grand Army post at Troy. His home has been in Warren and Lincoln
counties since coming to this country, and he was a quiet, honorable citizen, esteemed by
his neighbors.
