Obituary for Mildred Gallagher Dunard (1895-1928)
Uncited clippings from the "Mattie Davis Martin Collection" of Doris Martin Jablonski, 1998.

Mildred GALLAGHER, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. GALLAGHER was born at Herrington, Kan., on August 20, 1895. In the year 1911 her parents moved to High Hill, Mo., and in the year 1912, she with her parents moved to Hawk Point, where has been at home since. She was united in marriage to William Harrison DUNARD in the year 1912. To this union four children were born, namely, Lucille, aged 13, Billie, aged 8, Ailene, aged 6 and James H., aged 5 weeks.

A few weeks ago after the birth of James H., she suffered from a spell of the flu and conditions developed making it necessary for her to be taken to a hospital in St. Louis for special treatment. In spite of all that medical skill and tender nursing could do death claimed her Sunday morning at 2 o'clock, January 22.

Her remains arrived at Hawk Point Monday evening, January 23, and remained in the home over Tuesday where many friends and relatives called to extend their heartfelt sympathy to the heartbroken husband and children. Wednesday at one o'clock p.m. she was taken to the Hawk Point church, followed by a large number of relatives and friends where Bro. MATSLER spoke kind and comforting words to the large gathering of sympathetic hearers. Her remains were then taken to the beautiful Troy cemetery where they were laid to rest.

Besides the husband and children, Mildred leaves her father, mother, J. B. GALLAGHER and wife, two brothers, Beryl GALLAGHER and wife, of St. Louis and Glen GALLAGHER of Washington, DC and one sister, Mrs. J. E. EVERSMEYER, of Hawk Point, to mourn the death of this young wife and mother. Mildred was a home loving woman and her greatest happiness was in seeing her husband and children happy. She had been a member of the Christian church since 1911 and she was devoted to the church and Sunday school work. In Mildred’s death not only her family and near relatives, but all Hawk Point has lost the influence of a truly good woman. - C. A. H.

[Transcribers note. Although the year of death was not given in the obituary, it was noted in an article on the reverse side of the obituary as 1928.]
