Killed In Accident
Wm. D. DUDLEY, of St. Louis, formerly of Troy, and his companion Robert J. EKSTEIN, 30, were killed Sunday morning, December 24, when the panel truck in which they were riding struck an outer guard rail at the west approach of the MacArthur Bridge, rebounded and plunged over the side of the bridge 100 feet to their death. This was the second fatal accident at that spot in a week end and the tenth person to have met their death at the locality in eight years.
Bill, as he was best known to his friends, made his home with his aunt, Mrs. Mayme THOMAS, of St. Louis, and was employed as a television technician. The son of Dave and Camille DUDLEY, was born March 25, 1920, at Troy, where he made his home until entering the Air Force, where he served six years.
The body was brought to Kemper Funeral Home Troy, Sunday, from where funeral services were held, Wednesday afternoon, December 7, at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Herman A. Lehwald. Interrment was made in the Troy cemetery. Bill is survived by his brother, Richard DUDLEY, of Champaign, ILL., a son and step-daughter, who live in Silex, and other relatives.
