Obituary for Handy B. Dryden (d.1938)

Handy B. DRYDEN, son of John Lyttleton and Frances B. MASSIE DRYDEN was born 7 miles [sic] of Winfield, Lincoln Co, Mo., in the old DRYDEN homestead on Mar. 27, 1873. Here he spent the greater part of his life. school days, young manhood, marriage, business as a farmer, declining in health and passing beyond comprise the stages of his earthly career intertwined in the life of the community surrounding the place of his birth.
He was married to Ossie O. or [sic] C. MAGRUDER Jan.18, 1905.  The old home became the new home where, up until a few years
ago, when health began to fail he carried on a successful farming business.
His condition grew more serious and he was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital at St. Charles, June 13.  All that could be done was done but to no avail and he passed away June 23, 1938, to be mourned by his wife and 4 sisters, Mrs. N. C. KEITHLEY of Steelville, Mo; Mrs. James HARLOW of Stephenville, Tx.; Mrs. C. F. Taylor, of Briscoe and Mrs. A. C. Taylor, of Eolia. Other relatives and many friends are truly saddened that he is with them no more.
He professed his religion and became a member of New Salem Baptist Church about 15 years ago.  He was also a member of Winfield I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 423 in which connection he was a faithful and worthy brother.
Following services at New Salem Sat. at 2 p.m. the writer being assisted by the Revs. CARRISON and LYNN, the body was laid to rest in the adjoining Cemetery
