Contributor Notes:  George Washington Dawkins is known from family records to have died 21 Feb. 1883, therefore the clipping is known to be dated Feb. 1883.

"DIED
"At his home at New Salem, Feb. 21st, of consumption, George W. Dawkins, aged 45 years, a brother of our townsman, John Dawkins. He was a good citizen, highly respected and loved by all who knew him. His remains were laid to rest in the New Salem church-yard last Friday. He leaves a wife and three children and a large number of relatives and friends to cherish his memory. The Advance extends heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family."
