Vera May Damron

Services for Vera May Damron formerly of Elsberry, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 1989, at the Carter-Ricks Funeral Home is Elsberry. The Rev. Richard Turnbull of the Foley Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in the Old Alexandria Cemetery near Troy. Pallbearers were Carroll Simmons, Norman Simmons, Kenny Phelps, Bob Vancil, Dick Vancil and Bill Grady.

Mrs. Damron, 89, died early Tuesday morning, Oct. 24, 1989, at the St. Charles Health Care Center in St. Charles, Mo.

Born May 20, 1900, in Pike County, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Ross and Lula May Miles Wilson. She was united in marriage on Aug. 8, 1918, in Elsberry to Arthur Lee Damron, who died on Aug. 29, 1972. She was a member of the Millcreek Baptist Church.

Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Damron was preceded in death by four brothers, Virgil, Hugh, Victor and Willard Wilson; one sister, Velma Kolb and her son, Reavis Damron.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathryn Briscoe, and her husband, Lloyd, of St. Louis; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Carroll Wilson of Silex; one sister, Vivian Jeans, of Burlington, Iowa; and other relatives.
