Obituary for Dr. Joseph C. Creech (d.1986)

Dr. Joseph Carter CREECH, M.D., a retired Troy physician, passed away Thursday, Feb.13, 1986 at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. Private interment will be held at the Troy City Cemetery at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at the Troy Presbyterian Church. Rev. James Williams and Rev. Jim Duncan will officiate.

"Dr. Joe", as he was affectionately known, retired from his medical practice in September 1980 ending 45 years of service to the Lincoln County residents. Dr. CREECH completed his undergraduate studies at Westminster College in Fulton and then graduated from the St. Louis University Medical School. He began his practice in Troy in 1935. He was a member of the medical staff at both Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis and St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles for several years. He helped organize and served as the first Chief of Staff at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital in 1953. A family physician thoughout his professional career, Dr. CREECH was one of the most prominent obstetricians in the Lincoln County area and between 1935 and 1970, he helped deliver 1,190 babies.

Dr. CREECH was a member of the American Medical Association, Missouri State Medical Association, and the St. Charles and Lincoln Counties Medical Associations. He was active in community affairs holding memberships in the Troy Rotary Club, Troy Masonic Lodge, Shriners and Troy Chamber of Commerce. He was selected as the Chamber Man of the Year in 1959. He devoted his life to his family and his patients.

He and his family were active in the life of the Troy Presbyterian Church where he remained active until his health began to fail.

Dr. CREECH is survived by his wife, Nadine, and their five children, Joan CHARLES, Dr. Brevator CREECH, Karen DAVIS, Mary Carter CREECH and Dr. Joseph C. CREECH, Jr., their spouses; two brothers, John and his wife, Lorene; Austin and his wife, Marge and six grandchildren.

Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. today (Feb.14) and will continue until time of services Saturday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Organ Fund at the Troy Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be sent to Willalma Bishop at Boatmen’s Bank of Troy.
