Obituary for Howard Creech (1905-1981)

HOWARD CREECH
Services for Howard A. CREECH, 75, of Hannibal, were held at 3 p.m. Dec. 31, at the Southside Baptist Church, Hannibal. The Rev. Dave Schawo officiated. Burial was in Grand View Burial Park.
Mr. CREECH died at 9:45 p.m. Dec. 29, 1981 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital.
He was born Dec. 22,1905, in Little York, ILL., to Norman A and Clarissa Myrtle COLLINS CREECH. He first married Catherine Berdetta BAUER on Nov. 24, 1926, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 25, 1960. He then married Thelma HOEKSTRA in 1966 in Kirkwood and she survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Daniel and Med CREECH, both of Hannibal; two daughters, Jane BLICKHAN of Quincy, ILL. and Mrs. Osa PEER of Norcross, Ga.; and 13 grandchildren.
He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher until failing health forced him to resign the positions.
Mr. CREECH, with his parents and sister, Mabel, now all deceased, made their home in the Silex community approximately twenty years while Mr. Andrew (N.A.) CREECH was employed as a barber in Jackman's Barber shop, owned by H. T. (Harry) JACKMAN and also did some farming on the side.
Howard attended the Silex Schools, graduating from Silex High School with the class of 1924.
The CREECH family moved to the Hannibal community in the late 1920's or early 1930's.
Smith Funeral Chapel of Hannibal was in charge of arrangements.
