Obituary for Clem W. Creech (1895-1976)

Clem W. CREECH, 81, was born near Troy, Missouri, June 18, 1895, the youngest son of Charles W. and Laura Garrett CREECH. He passed away July 5, 1976, at the Lincoln County Manor after a lengthy illness, having entered St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Charles, on January 6, 1976 and moved to Lincoln County Manor March 9, 1976.

On December 19, 1917 he was married to Anna L. SCHAPER at thre home of O.A. Gordon in Troy. In 1967 they had the happy privilege of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

To this union one son was born, Charles L. CREECH. One niece, Arline GIBSON, shared this home until she was four years of age.

During the Birch Revival in 1914, Mr. CREECH united with the First Christian Church in Troy. He has been a loyal and active member, having served as Deacon and Trustee of the church.

Surviving are his wife, Anna, son, Charles and wife Betty; two grandchildren, Linda WHALEN and husband Mike and Clem Douglas CREECH and wife, Pat; four great-grandchildren, Beth Ann and Charla Kathryn WHALEN and Charles Curtis and Joseph Kyle CREECH; two half brothers, Lafayette CREECH of Troy and DEE CREECH of Monroe city, Mo.; one sister-in-law Flora CREECH, one nephew, William H. CREECH, Jr.; several nieces; other relatives and a host of friends.

Preceeding him in death were his parents and two brothers, WILL and FOREST CREECH.

Some 50 years ago Clem and his brother Will, moved to Troy and began CREECH Brothers Truck Line, which continues as a family business.

A friendly man by nature, Clem was always happy to see and visit with his friends and neighbors, and loved to be with his grandchlden and great-grand children.

During his long illness his devoted wife and famly gave him the best care and attention that was possible. They will miss him greatly.

Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 1976 from the First Christian Church of Troy, Rev. James Flannagan officiating. Interment was in the Troy City Cemetery.

The organist was Mrs. Robert C. Hall and the vocalists were Mrs. Joyce Gillespie and Mrs. Barbara Bockhorst. Pallbearers were James Whalen, Robert Walton, Dallas Montgomery, George Walton, Harold Cannon and Martin Seidel.

Scripture reading and prayer was led by Kenneth LaRue at the funeral home prior to moving to the church for services. Arrangements were through the McCoy-Paul Funeral Home.
