LOUISIANA - Charles Henry Colbert, 81, of Pittsfield, Ill., and formerly of Clarksville, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, at Pittsfield Health Care Center in Pittsfield. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Frank Welch will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 16, at the funeral home.

Charley was born Nov. 20, 1923, in Whiteside to Andy and Margaret Luckett Colbert.

He was married to Elizabeth Kathline Wickell on March 27, 1952, in Cyrene. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Danny Ray Colbert and wife, Joyce, of Nebo, Ill., and Donald Wayne Colbert and wife, Margaret, of Perry; five grandchildren, Daniel Colbert of Louisiana, Laura Heiliger and husband, Adam, of Warrenton, April Flowers and husband, J R, of Perry, Gwen Bailey and husband, Joe, of Paris, and Amber Colbert of Perry; one brother, James Colbert and wife, Lois, of Eolia; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clark Colbert and Roy Colbert; and three sisters, Helen Pruitt, Sara Rue and Betty Welch.

Charley was a farmer and had lived and farmed in the Clarksville area most of his life. He and his wife, Elizabeth, moved from Clarksville to Nebo, Ill., in 1994, to be close to his son, Danny. He was a member of the Ramsey Creek Baptist Church near Clarksville.

Memorials may be given to the family.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Pruitt, Ronnie Colbert, John Colbert, Quintin Colbert, Kevin Welch and Dick Henderson.
