GEORGIA WILLIS COCKRELL

Georgia WILLIS, daughter of George and Mary FRY WILLIS, was born October 20, 1893, at Salt Creek Valley, Leavenworth County, Kansas, died at her home in Troy, Missouri, July 2, 1941, after a lingering illness of many months.

May 10, 1916, she was married to Harry E. COCKRELL. To this union two children were born John Lloyd and Harriet Louise, who with their father and daughter, Elsa Eleanor, survive her.

There are also four sisters: Josie, wife of Fred C. BERNHARDT, Tonganoxie, Kansas; Neva, wife of Arthur HEALY, Tacoma, Washington; Myrtle, wife of Rev. Fred W. GRAMPP, St. Louis; Zella wife of Edward BLEISTEIN, Leavenworth, Kansas, and one brother, Ray WILLIS, Tacoma, Washington.

At the age of twelve years, Mrs. COCKRELL united with the Methodist Church at Jarbalo, Kansas, and in 1922 transferred her membership to the Troy Methodist Church where she continued an active Christian worker as long as her health permitted.

She was superintendent of the Junior Department in the Church School and treasurer of the Women’s Missionary Society for several years. She was also a member of the Chautauqua Reading Circle and active in the Parent Teachers Association.

Mrs. COCKRELL was a choice spirit, to know her was to love her. She bore her affliction bravely. Her’s was an absolute trust in God. Well may we say, as Jesus said, "I have not found so great faith, no not in Israel."

"There is a land of pure delight, Where saints immortal reign; Infinite day excludes the night, and pleasures banish pain."

Funeral services were held at the Troy Methodist Church last Thursday afternoon by her pastor, Rev. B. B. HARVEY, assisted by her brother-in-law Rev. Fred W. GRAMPP, St. Louis, Mo. Interment was in the City Cemetery.
