PIONEER RESIDENT DIES

Mrs. Kate CLARK, one of the oldest residents of Troy vicinity and Lincoln County, died Tuesday January 17, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gilbert GROSHONG, after a lingering illness. She lacked only two and a half months of being 91 years of age.

Mrs. CLARK, a daughter of Frances ATKINSON and Alfred WILLIAMS, was born near Nashville, Tenn., April 2, 1848. Her parents moved to Missouri when she was a small child and she has spent her entire life in and near this community.

She was married to James H. CLARK November 11, 1869. To this union eight children were born, one dying in infancy. The following seven survive: Mrs. Eleanor ROBINSON, Racine, Minn.; William Deaver CLARK, Warrenton, Mo., Mrs. Will EAST, and Nat D. CLARK, St. Louis; Mrs. Maggie GROSHONG, Troy; Jas. H. CLARK, Richmond, Calif.; and Richard N. CLARK, Hawk Point. Her husband preceded her in death 36 years ago.

Besides the above mentioned, Mrs. CLARK leaves 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Douglas WILLIAMS of Kentucky; Dan WILLIAMS, of Troy; and George WILLIAMS of St. Louis.

She has been a faithful member of the Primative Baptist Church at Sand Run since 1884, when she united with that church.
