OBITUARY
JAMES A. BROWN was born in Lincoln County, Mo. Sep. 10, 1841, and died at his home in Troy, Aug. 31, 1912, aged 70 years 11 months and 20 days. He grew to manhood and spent his entire life in his native county. He was married to Miss Mary E. HUBBARD, also a native of Lincoln County, Dec. 1, 1864. Ten children were born to this union, of whom only five now survive, four sons and one daughter. His first wife died in 1886 and after a time he married Miss Annie SKINNER, but she lived only a short time. In 1890, he was married to Mrs. Mary A. ANDERSON, who survives him. Mr. BROWN united with the Old Baptist Church at Sand Run in 1885, and remained a faithful member until his death. He was serving his last year of a four year term as Treasurer of Lincoln County at the time of his death. His funeral was preached at his late home by the writer and the remains were then taken to the Faulconer graveyard, where they were interred with the honors of Masonry by the Moscow Mills lodge, of which he had long been a member. May the comfort of the Holy Spirit sustain the bereaved companion ad sorrowing relatives --John Conley
The above would have been furnished to us and printed much sooner had it not been for Eld. Conley's absence from home. ( Troy Free Press Friday Sept. no date -j.g.)
