Obituary for Clarence Brown (1876-1977)

Clarence C. BROWN of Salida, Colorado, passed away Nov. 27, 1977 in a Colorado Springs hospital following a series of strokes. Mr. BROWN, who was 101 years and 6 months of age, was born May 31, 1876 at Ethlyn, Mo. to George and Ann COCKRELL BROWN.
He was married to the former Marie BRUMMELL of Troy, who passed away during the early 1950s. They were the parents of a son, Wilson R. BROWN, who died in the 1960s while employed at Missouri Valley College.
Mr. BROWN owned and operated the Brown Mercantile Company in Ethlyn for many years. He lived at Troy during the 1950s and following retirement, went to Arizona residing there until his marriage to his wife, Edna, who survives. They moved to Salida, Colo., where he lived until his death.
Other than his wife, the only survivors are nieces and nephews, several of whom reside in Lincoln County.
Mr. BROWN was the last of a family of six children. His three brothers were Robert R. BROWN, Ethlyn, Fred BROWN, Pomona, Calif. And Walter BROWN of Hamilton, Ohio. His two sisters were Mrs. Paul (Georgia) PALMER of Ethlyn and Mrs. Syd (Ethlyn) PENN of Troy.
