            Verna Amanda BRAKENSIEK (nee JOERLING), 77, of Wright City and formerly of Foristell died Tuesday, June 28, 1994, at St. Luke’s Hospital West in Chesterfield.   She was born Aug. 16, 1916, in Foristell.

            Services were held July 1 at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Wright City with interment in the Wright City Cemetery.

            Mrs. BRAKENSIEK was a homemaker.  She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Women’s Fellowship.  She was a member of the Wrights and Left Square Dance Club and a former member of the WPFA and JFA.

            She is survived by her husband, Herbert BRAKENSIEK of Wright City; one son, Dennis of Wright City; one daughter, Sharon LEWTON of Hannibal; three brothers, Clarence and Samuel JOERLING both of New Melle, and Lawrence JOERLING of Foristell; one sister, Laura BECKER of Augusta; and three grandchildren.

            She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Tonia BRAKENSIEK.

            Memorials are preferred to the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Wright City.
