Obituary for Julius Bockhorst (1889-1983)

Julius G. BOCKHORST, 93 year old Lincoln County resident, passed away in Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, Troy, Sunday evening, January 23, 1983.

Funeral services are to be held at 2 o’clock this afternoon (Wednesday) January 26, from the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home in Troy, the Rev. Ken Finley, pastor of the First Christian Church of Troy, officiating. Mrs. Ken Finley is the soloist, and Mrs. Ruth Router is the organist.

Interment is in the Wright City – City Cemetery. Active casket bearers are Bill BOCKHORST, Lee BOCKHORST, Mike BOCKHORST, Sammy BOCKHORST, Marion BOCKHORST and J.E. BOCKHORST.

Julius Garrett BOCKHORST was born near Wright City, Mo., April 23, 1889, the son of Henry Diedrich C. and Emma Wilimena HEDEMAN BOCKHORST. When he was a young child the family moved to Troy where he lived the remainder of this life.

Mr. BOCKHORST, a retired Lincoln County farmer, was a member of the First Christian Church of Troy, and the Lincoln County Farm Bureau. He was a veteran of World War 1, and was a member of the Troy American Legion Post No. 94.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ella PONDER, and one brother, Elmer BOCKHORST, both of Troy, 12 nieces and nephews; a number of great and great-great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
