Funeral services for Nannie Elizabeth TWELLMAN BLEES (also known as Nan, Nancy, or Sis) were held Tuesday August 29, 1989 from the Florida Memorial Funeral Home in Rockledge, Fl. Rev. Elby Frost of the Sherwood Baptist Church officiated with interment following at Florida Memorial Gardens.
Nan passed away at her home in Cocoa, Fl. following a heart attack.
She was born October 6, 1924 in rural Moscow Mills, Mo., the third daughter of Gerhardt Edward (Ed G.) and Dora Lee BROWN TWELLMANN. She was married June 27, 1944 to James J. STANFORD of West Haven, Connecticut. On December 17, 1983 she was married to William BLEES who died May 5, 1989.
She is survived by her children, James Francis STANFORD of Northridge, Ca., Nora Kathleen FOSTER (Mrs. IRVIN) of Melbourne, Fl., Edward Joseph STANFORD of Portland, Oregon, Michael Meagher STANFORD of Puyallup, Washington, Mary Therese STANFORD-GARDNER (Mrs. DWAIN) of Columbia, Mo., and William Patrick STANFORD of Garland, Texas. She was preceded in death by a son, Walter Christopher on December 11, 1970, her parents, her younger brother, Gerald Lee (Jerry) TWELLMANN and her husband William BLEES. She is also survived by two sons-in-laws, four daughter-in-laws, four grand-daughters, four grandsons, her sisters, Esther F. FOLTZ of St. Louis, Alice M. HAYS of Troy, one brother, Joe E. TWELLMANN (BYRD) of Troy, one aunt, Abby BROWN HILL, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Nan worked at the Moscow telephone switchboard in Moscow Mills as a young woman. In later years she worked in St. Louis and Beverly Hills, California for Bell Telephone in addition to being a homemaker.
Those who attended her funeral from here were Abby BROWN HILL, Alice HAYS, Joe E. TWELLMANN and her godson, Steven E. EISENBATH.
