Obituary for Rex J. Beckman (1908-1985)

Rex John BECKMAN, age 77, prominent Lincoln County farmer passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 20, 1985, while feeding stock for a neighbor.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, August 22, from the Troy Chappel, Kemper Marsh Funeral Home, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Bob Hicks. Interment was in the Old Alexandria Cemetery, Troy. Casket bearers were Glenn CREECH, Carl CREECH, John MILLER, Dick SCHAFFER, Trevie HARRELL and Floyd DOWELL.

Mr. BECKMAN was born in South Haven, Kansas, January 2, 1908, the son of John Henry and Caroline Marie VAHLE BECKMAN. He was married Feb. 20, 1932 to Miss Dona DOWELL of Troy, and she survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Mrs. Leroy (Shirley) STEPANEK and one son, Edward BECKMAN and his wife, Vivian, all of St. Louis, six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, two brothers, Lawrence BECKMAN of Centralia, Mo. and Milton BECKMAN of Troy, other relatives and many friends.

Mr BECKMAN farmed in Lincoln County all his life. He retired 14 years ago, but continued to help neighbors and maintained his own farm. He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Troy. He was a member of the Lincoln County Farm Bureau and served as president of the Old Alexandria Cemetery Association.

Memorials are being made to the Heart Association.
