Obituary for Johann Michael Beck (1873-1912)

Johann Michael BECK, son of Marion and John Beck, born November 1, 1873 at Black Jack, Illinois, died January 15, 1912 at Moscow Mills, Mo., at the age of 68 years, two months and fifteen days.

He was married to Ellen BUENEMAN September 15, 1898. To this union four children were born, all of whom survive. Verlie, now Mrs. Wm. BERGESCH, Lora, now Mrs. Henry MEYER, Orval and Olive.

Besides his wife and children, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lena BROCKAUS of St. Louis, two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, six grandchildren, nephews and nieces, and a host of relatives, friends and neighbors.

On April 3, 1887 he was comfirmed in the Evangelical church at Black Jack, Ill., where he attended until he moved to Moscow Mills. There he attended the Moscow Evangelical church. On October 30, 1925 he was baptized into the Pentecostal faith by Sisters Florence Cluny and Grace Cook, in which faith he lived until death.

At the age of five his parents preceded him in death and since then he worked on various farms in Illinois, making his home with the friends he worked for who were devoted to him.

In 1896 he purchased property in Moscow Mills where he raised his family and devoted his strength to farming. In later years when his health failed him he partly retired from his work.

He will be missed by a host of friends who worked with him and stood beside him when he needed help.
