Marriage Clipping for Frank C. Dieckman and Ida G. Elmore
Uncited clipping from the "Mattie Davis Martin Collection" of Doris Martin
Jablonski, 1998. Probable source, Troy Free Press (Troy, Lincoln Co., MO)
c1908-1909.
Frank C. Dieckman and Miss Ida G. Elmore of the Palmyra vicinity stole a march on their many friends Sunday when they took a morning train to St. Louis where they were married at the parsonage of the Gano Avenue German M.E. Church by the pastor, Rev. J. M. Rohde,. Rev. Rohde was formerly pastor at Steinhagen, and the young couple, who were well known to him, surprised him very much when they called on him to perform the ceremony. They spent several days in the city the guests of relatives and returned here Tuesday evening.
The groom is a son of Conrad Dieckman of the Palmyra vicinity and is a hustling young farmer. He has provided a very cozy home on the Henry Yeater farm where they will go to housekeeping at once.
The bride is the accomplished daughter of Mrs. Elmore of near Hawk Point. She possesses an admirable disposition and will make her future home a very pleasant and attractive one. Both are determined to make life a success and their hosts of friends join us in wishing then a pleasant journey through life.
Note regarding clippings from the "Mattie Davis Martin Collection": Mattie Davis Martin (1875-1943) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO. She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents. The majority of the clippings were without citation, and kept stored in an old purse. Doris Martin Jablonski, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion on our Lincoln County Heritage/Records Page.
