The First Christian Church of Elsberry

Elsberry.
The First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Elsberry, Missouri was organized on March 28, 1887 and the Methodist church building was used until a permanent building could be constructed. The first church building, which cost $1,600.00, was dedicated in November, 1890 by Rev. B. F. Grimes, State Secretary. By 1908, membership had grown to 211. The present brick building at 101 North 6th Street was dedicated on Sunday, April 21, 1912 with Rev. George L. Snively delivering a sermon on "The Fundamentals of Our Faith."
