Know all men by these presents that I William Knowlton of Lincoln County, State of
Missouri, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to me in hand paid by
Robert Jameson of the County and State aforesaid, the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged have granted, bargained, and sold, and do by these presents grant, bargain,
and sell unto him the said Robert Jameson his heirs and assigns the following described
piece or parcel of land situate in the north west quarter of Section Twenty, in Township
fifty, north of the base line, and Range one east, containing forty acres of land, and
being the same that I hold by deed from Jeptha Ware and wife, dated the 21st day of August
1837. To Have and to Hold the above described piece or parcel of land together with
the improvements thereon, unto him the said Robert Jameson his heirs and assigns forever
-- and I the said William Knowlton do for myself, my heirs executor and
administrator, covenant and agree with him the said Robert Jameson, his heirs and assigns
that I do and will warrant and forever defend the titel to the above granted premises unto
him, the said Robert Jameson, his heirs and assigns against all lawful claims whatsoever
--In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirty first day
of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty--

County of Lincoln Be it remembered that on this first day of September
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty, before me the undersigned a
Justice of the peace within and for the County aforesaid, came William Knowlton, who is
personally known to me to be the person whose name is subscribed to the within and
foregoing instrument of writing as having executed the same and acknowledged the said
instrument to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned -- Taken and
certified the day and year aforesaid.--
