Daniel Bain Gift to Valentine Harvey (28 January 1839)

Know all men by these present [sic] that I DANIEL BAIN of the County of
Lincoln and State of Missouri for and in consideration of the love and affection which I
have for my son in law, VALENTINE HARVEY, of the county and state aforesaid and for the
further consideration of one dollar to me in hand paid by the said VALENTINE HARVEY, the
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have given, granted, bargained and sold and do by
these presents give, grant, bargain and sell unto him the said VALENTINE HARVEY, his heirs
and assigns the following described piece or parcel of land situated in the County of
Lincoln aforesaid, to wit, the Southwest quarter of the Northwest quarter of section
twenty in Township forty nine North of the base line range one East containing forty acres
and being the same land that I hold by deed from ALFRED TURNER bearing date the 27th day
of December 1836, to have and to hold the above described piece of [sic] parcel
of land together with the improvements thereon unto him the said VALENTINE HARVEY, his
heirs and assigns forever and I the said DANIEL BAIN do for myself, my heirs, executors
and administrators, covenant and agree with him the said VALENTINE HARVEY, his heirs and
assigns that I will warrant and forever defend the title to the above granted premises
unto him the said VALENTINE HARVEY, his heirs and assigns against all lawful claims
whatsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty
eight [sic] day of January in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred
and thirty nine.

Be it remembers [sic] that on this twenty eighth day of January in the year of
our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and thirty nine before me the undersigned, a justice
of the peace within and for the county aforesaid came DANIEL BAIN who is personally known
to me to be the person whose name is subscribed to the within and foregoing instrument of
writing as having executed the same and acknowledged the said instrument to be his act and
deed for the purposes therein mentioned.
