Mrs. Elizabeth MOORE was quite ill at her home for some time past but is now improving.

DUDLEY & WILLIAMS, the new Troy firm of lawyers, are moving into their rooms over the post office this week.

Miss Nan BAILEY, who spent Christmas holidays with homefolks at Shelbina, returned to Troy Tuesday.

About twelve couples of young people enjoyed a most delightful party on December 28 at the home of Miss Nell Garwood AVERY. The evening was spent playing rook and Five Hundred, and dainty refreshments were served at the close of a very enjoyable evening.

Miss Nellie SHANNON has been quite ill of the measles the past week.

Mrs. Dyer PRESLEY is visiting freinds in St. Louis this week.

Rev. J. E. LORTON occupied the pulpit at the Christian church last Sunday morning and evening and preached two fine sermons to good audiences.

Judge Nat M. SHELTON, who was here last week for the funeral of Charles MARTIN, recently retired from the circuit bench in the Macon County circuit, after an honorable service of 18 years. The members of the bar in his circuit presented Judge SHELTON with a beautiful gold watch in token of their appreciation of his long public service. Judge SHELTON is no stranger in Troy and we were please to see him looking hale and hearty.

Note regarding clippings from the "Mattie Davis Martin Collection":   Mattie Davis Martin (1875-1943) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO.   She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents.  The majority of the clippings were without citation, and kept stored in an old purse. Doris Martin Jablonski, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion on our Lincoln County Heritage/Records Page.
