An Unfortunate Affair.

As a result of what was evidently an attempt at suicide last Friday morning, Russell HENRY is suffering from a fracture of the front bone of the skull on the right side, the injury being caused by a shot gun. Young HENRY has been cultivating a portion of John SCOTT's farm, northwest of town, and on Friday morning had a misunderstanding with Mr. SCOTT, who says HENRY threatened to shoot him, started to town to procure a warrent for his arrest, and at the same time the young man took his gun and went to some woods about 150 yards from the house, first going through the kitchen and giving his watch and pocketbook to his sister. Soon afterward four shots were heard in close succession, and Miss HENRY hurried after Mr. SCOTT, telling him she was afraid Mr. SCOTT had killed himself; Mr. SCOTT told her that he brother must be shooting at squirrels, the number of shots seeming to indicate this, and continued on his way to town.

Young HENRY not appearing at noon, a search was made and he was found uconscious in the woods, and the wound above mentioned and slight marks of two other shots on his head. The injury is thought to have been caused by one of the first two shots, as the shells remaining in the gun had blood on them. Dr. SMITH, who is attending him, says his present condition is as favorable as could be expected, considering the nature of the injury and if no complications set in his recovery is probable. He is of the opinion that HENRY's actions were the result of his becoming overheated the day previous, which occasioned temporary mental derangement.

Mr. HENRY is a son of McDowell HENRY, who lives between Troy and Wright City. He has always borne a good reputation, and his friends generally are loth to believe that his actons last Friday were----- anything but disturbed----
