DAVIS
     Miss Elphie Lee TRAIL is reported sick.
 
    Chas. NAGLE is very low with pneumonia.
 
    Quite a number here and in this vicinity are "'gripping"' this week.
 
    The debate billed for this place last Saturday night was postponed on account of sickness.
 
    Some days we think spring has come, but by the morrow we are fairly satisfied we were mistaken.
 
    M.N. FINNERTY of Brussells came up Saturday to see his daughter, Mrs. Birch HUMPHREY, who is threatened with pneumonia.
 
    W. M. MATTOCKS was called home last Thursday (by the sickness of his wife) from his store at Blair, where he had been for a couple of weeks selling out his stock of goods there.
 
    Eld. J.H. THOMAS filled his regular appointment at Elm Grove Sunday, but on account of the intolerable roads no services were held that eve (sic) at the church, but at the home of B.N. CALLAWAY's instead, where quite a number gathered and a profitable service was conducted by the pastor.
 
    One of our aged and worthy citizens passed to rest last Wednesday Feb. 24, in the person of Uncle Joe PAGE.  He had suffered for several days from a complication of lagrippe and other troubles.  He leaves a wife and several grown children and a host of sorrowing friends.  His remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery at Troy, as he was a Catholic in faith.
 
SUGAR GROVE
    Miss Tice HEADY started to Buchanan College last Tuesday.
 
    M.H.  BROWN and daughter, Miss Jeannie, are both on the sick list.
 
    Wm. H. BRYAN and wife have both been sick with grip but are better.
 
    Harrison CHAPPELL was in this vicinity one day last week on business.
   
    Mr. WILSON, of Wellsville, visited George WILLIAMS a day or two last week.
 
    Abbie WILLIAMS sold a good work horse to a gentleman near Foristell one day last week.
 
    Chas. WILLIAMS and little daughter of Moscow Mills, visited at J. J. ELLIOTT's last Tuesday.
 
    Abbie WILLIAMS is the possessor of six angora goats and six sheep which all run in the same lot.
 
    After a week's vacation on account of scarlet fever scare our school was taken up again last Monday.
 
    Wm. JEANS has just completed a new barn on the farm he bought of Joe TICE.  The KOEHLER boys did the work.
 
    Born, to Andy STEPHENSON and wife, a fine nine-pound boy, on Feb. 23.  We are informed that they named him James Andrew.
 
    Burt JEANS and family moved to his new farm they bought of the PENN boys last Monday.  John GLENN and wife will occupy the farm vacated by Mr. JEANS.
 
    Mr. MATHEWS has a curiosity.  He has a sow that acts as mother for three pigs and three pups.  It looks funny to see both lots taking their meals at once.
