Elsberry, Mo. August 18,1933.

Of interest to a number of the bride's friends in and near Elsberry comes news of the marriage of Kenneth Thornton, of Nebo, IL. and Miss Lilly Belle Jacobs, of Canton, Mo. which event took place Thursday last week, August 10, in Pittsfield. IL. The bride is a sister to Rev. H. Lee Jacobs, of this city.

Visits Graves of Cholera Victims

Mrs. Annie Wilkinson, here from Alhambra, Calif., visiting relatives and friends, accompanied by Mr. & Mrs. W.H.Parker and Mrs. Ada Davis, drove to a private burying ground on the Mackey farm, near Clarksville, Sunday and visited for the first time the graves of Mrs. Wilkinson's mother, Mrs. Eunice Jefferies and Mrs. Davis' father, William Brown. Both died sixty years ago this month during a cholera epidemic. Mrs. Jefferies, who resided on what is known as the Jefferies farm, now owned by Floyd Galloway, about two miles northwest of town, was summoned to the Clarksville vicinity to aid in caring for a relative seized with cholera. The relative died, and shortly thereafter Mrs. Jefferies was stricken and lived but a short time. Mr. Jefferies and Mrs. Wilkinson, then a child of five years, had mild attacks of the dreaded disease, but recovered.

The disease proved fatal to Mr. Brown about the same time. The law required bodies of cholera victims to be buried in the nearest accessible cemeteries to avoid the possibility of a spread of the disease, and for that reason both bodies were buried in the private cemetery on this farm, in the community which they died, and were never disinterred and moved to other cemeteries.

Teacher Found in Coma

Mrs. Eula S. Williams, 45, instructor in the University of Chicago elementary school was found in a coma in her apartment at the Rendondo Hotel, 5455 Blackstone Ave.

She was taken by police to the County Hospital, where at first it was believed she had taken an overdose of sleeping powder.....was revealed she had been suffering from diabetes....

The above was clipped from a Chicago paper last week. Mrs. Williams is remembered by many Elsberrians, having been a member of high school faculty a part of the 1920-21 term and throughout entire term of 1921-22.

Veteran Railway Man Buried

T.E. Hammack, of Elsberry, and W.L. Hammack, of New Hope, were in St. Louis last Thursday and attended the funeral and burial of their brother, H.C.Hammack, who passed away the first of the week in St. John's Hospital..... Funeral services were held in a funeral home on South Broadway and interment was made in Lakewood Park Cemetery, in St. Louis County.

Mr. & Mrs. Charlie Trail and son were called to Olney Saturday by the message of the death of Mrs. Trail's father, W. H. Rinaman, of Menonine, Michigan. The body was brought to Olney Sunday and funeral and burial was at the Olney Cemetery. The family has the sympathy of the community.

A fine baby boy was born to Mr. & Mrs. Claude Holmes August 11. He has been named Lemuel Freddie.

A fine 10 pound baby girl made her arrival at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Sanders Aug. 8, and has been named Mary Frances Dodge for her grandmother.

Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Sterns are rejoicing over the arrival of a fine baby boy who arrived at their home Saturday, August 12.
