Uncited Clipping from the collection of Mary Omahundro Hutt Walker.
[Transcriber's Note: I'm not sure whose birthday party this was, top part is missing. Her name was Marie (probably Kemper). The guest names I believe will be of interest to some folks. - j.g.]
----------------surprise on her birthday-------February 24, 1914. The house was beautifully decorated in pink and green, Marie's favorite colors. A bounteous dinner was served at the noon hour by Mrs. KEMPER in her usual hospitable manner, she being noted for her good cooking and proved herself equal to the occasion. The reception was held from 2 to 5 o'clock and the first of the afternoon was spent in games and music, then refreshments of cake and ice cream were served, after which a slip of paper was given to each one; the one writing the largest number of words beginning with K in two minutes received a 2-pound box of Mrs KEMPER's candy, Miss Jane HEADY was the recipient of the prize.
