Wedding Announcement of H. G. Ealum and Lulu Floye Nicholas (aft. 1911)
No. 178 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.

H.G. EALUM, the popular second trick train dispatcher at the St. Louis & Hannibal depot is married.
This announcement will be a surprise to his host of friends in this vicinity and they will be greatly surprised to learn that the wedding was solemnized almost a month ago in Quincy.

The young lady who is now Mrs. EALUM, was Miss Lulu Floye NICHOLAS, of Hardin, Ill. She met the man of her choice in Quincy on the 30th day of November and the young couple proceeded to the home of the officiating minister, Rev. HARTLEY, pastor of the Presbyterian church where they were married.

The wedding of Miss NICHOLAS and Mr. EALUM is the culmination of a romance which began four years ago when the young lady, who was then enjoying a vacation, visited friends in Altus, Oklahoma, the home of the groom.  The young people met for the first time then and the friendship formed soon ripened into love.

The bride, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. NICHOLAS of Hardin, Ill., is chief stenographer for the Mutual Life Insurance company at St. Louis.

The groom has resided in Hannibal since September 1911. He is a young man of sterling worth, honest and honorable in all his dealings with his fellow man and is highly estemed by the company and by his associates. For certain reasons the young people wished to keep their wedding a secret for a short time and they laid their plans well.   Immediately after the ceremony the bride returned to St. Louis while the groom returned to his work.
