Obituary for Emma D. Wieligman (d. 1913)
No. 148 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.

In Memory of Mrs. Emma D. WIELIGMAN, (Nee WUELBERN) who died April 25th, 1913, and who is still sadly missed from her family circle.

She was a kind and loving mother, a faithful and true companion and a dear loving daughter and sister, ever ready to lend a helping hand. Oh! there is a vacant chair that can never be filled.

How we miss thy pleasant smiling face; three months have swiftly glided by, which seem like a dream. One can't hardly realize it to be true, that she has gone from our midst. Yes, she is gone, gone, but not forgotten by thy loved ones.

Why mourn for those we love,
Who left his world of care;
And in that land above
Are free forever there.
The River she has crossed
And reached her final home;
Beyond life sorrow tossed,
In peace and joy to roam.
Why wish for their return
To life of toil and pain;
Although our hearts may yearn,
Why call them back again.
We miss their words of cheer,
Their friendship true and strong;
But would we call them here,
Their trials to prolong.
No, no, is our reply,
Our loved ones are safe and free,
The years roll swiftly by;
With them we soon shall be.

Though descending from realms divine, we must drink the cup of sorrow deep, ere we can comfort anyone's distress; for from the heart bemissed by a thousand ills, the tears of sympathy alone can flow. Our home is the land of day, our journeying is all that way. Our loved one is in God's paradise.

Note regarding clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection":  Neva Murphy Hubbard (1886-1971) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO.  She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents. The majority of the clippings were without citation. Beth Rengers Talken, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion in our Lincoln County Heritage Records.
