Obituary for Verna Richards (date unknown)
No. 123 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of
Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.
A shadow of gloom was cast over the home of Jas. H. RICHARDS and family, Wednesday,
Sept. 19, when the death angel claimed little Verna for its victim. Sad indeed is the home
she has just left.
Little Verna was a bright, sweet girl, just eleven years old. She had been complaining the
greater part of the summer, but was confined to her bed about three weeks before God
relieved her of her sufferings. Patient and willing hands and anxious hearts did all that
could be done everything that these poor earthly friends could, and anxious prayers were
given, but all in vain. God knows best.
She leaves to mourn her departure, a mother, father, two sisters and five brothers. The
funeral services were held at the family residence conducted by Rev. BROWN, after which
the remains were tenderly laid to rest in RICHARDS burying ground.
Five brothers and a brother-in-law bore to its last resting place the body of their little
sister.
May the Heavenly Father comfort the bereft ones and enable them to look to Him, realizing
that this separation is for only a short time: and may they all so live that a blessed
reunion will await them in the mansions on high.
