Obituary for Elias B. Norton (1849-1912)

Elias B. NORTON, son of Nineon and Rhoda NORTON, was born in Lincoln county, Mo., April
21st, 1849; died June 9th, 1912, aged 63 years, 1 month and 19 days.
He was married to Miss Addie RICKS in 1875. To this union ten children were born, two of
whom died several years ago. The remaining eight, with his widow, two sisters and one
brother, are left to mourn his departure. He united with the Baptist church in 1895.
He spent all his life with the exception of the last eight years in Lincoln county. He had
been in poor health for sometime past and died in St. Louis, where he spent the last eight
years. The funeral was held in the Methodist chruch at Old Alexandria in the presence of a
large company of people who knew him. The interment was in the cemetery at Old Alexandria.
He was a good man and held in high esteem by all who knew him.

Note regarding clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection": Neva Murphy Hubbard (1886-1971) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO. She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents. The majority of the clippings were without citation. Beth Rengers Talken, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion in our Lincoln County Heritage Records.
