Obituary for Della G. Murphy (1891-1915)
No. 095 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of
Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.
Della G. MURPHY was born May 29, 1891, and died May 26, 1915. Miss Della was a good
girl and a great sufferer; consumption, that dreaded disease, fastened its cruel fangs
upon her form and slowly ate her life away. She fought bravely the great battle of life,
but all in vain she [sic] believed in the Lord Jesus Christ but had never
attached herself to any organization, which was perhaps her greatest mistake; always
optimistic she thought she would get better and then attend the church. Like a tree in
springtime in full bloom, torn up by the storm and case [sic] aside to perish and
die, so this young life is torn from her home, leaving a vacant place in the home circle.
She leaves a father, two sisters and a brother to mourn her loss. She was born and reared
on on the old home farm southwest of Moscow Mills and spent all her life in this county.
One sister and her mother preceded her in death. He funeral was preached by the writer to
a large concourse of friends and neighbors; and to these friends the bereaved ones feel
that they owe a debt of gratitude for their kindness in their deep sorrow. We laid her
form away by the side of those loved ones, mother and sister, to await the resurrection
morn.
