Lee FRANK was born in Sherefeld Bavaria, Germany, April 10th 1846. He was the youngest son of Gideon and Charlotte FRANK. At the age of sixteen to avoid military service, he came to the United States and located at Alexander, Mo., where an elder brother was living. After spending two years there he went to St. Louis where he clerked for about two years, after which he embarked in business at Burr Oak, and Foley, Mo.
Besides his mercantile business he also owns large real estate, his entire estate being estimated at $75,000 to $100,000.
He was made an Odd Fellow in April 1878 by which order he was buried. He was married to Emma TILLER, the daughter of John TILLER, in 1871. Their union was blessed by six childrenGideon, Mrs. D.D. DUNBAR of Foley, Mo., Mrs. Jno. H. MEYER, St. Louis, Burnetta, Mary and Viannah, the wife of V.M. WILLIS, Felton, Nevada.
His religious belief was Progressive Hebrew and when in St. Louis he attended Rabbi HARRISON's service. Therefore at his funeral service was read the eleventh chapter of Romans and the text used was Isaiah 64-6, and the service was conducted by Eld. J.S. EAMES.
He was a man highly esteemed as was demonstrated by the great crowd of friends who attended the funeral. May the good Lord comfort the bereaved family in their sore affliction and bring them all unto himself at last. --J.S. EAMES
Note regarding clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection": Neva Murphy Hubbard (1886-1971) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO. She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents. The majority of the clippings were without citation. Beth Rengers Talken, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion in our Lincoln County Heritage Records.
