Obituary for Alfred, Victor (d1914) and Gerald (d1914) Edinger
Nos. 044, 045, 046 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.

In loving memory of Alfred, Victor and Gerald EDINGER.

It is sad indeed when we are called upon to part with one of our loved ones but how lonely and desolate is the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. EDINGER of 6551 Tyler Ave., St. Louis. Mrs. EDINGER was formerly Miss Ida FILSINGER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. FILSINGER of Chantilly, Mo., all of whom are well known in Lincoln county, where they have a host of friends who deeply sympathize with them in the loss of their little boys. They were taken sick with measles in a serious form, which was followed by what specialists called bronchial pneumonia, and all that earthly hands and loving hearts could do was in vain; for God in love, not in anger, saw fit to take three of them to Himself, where no sickness, sorrow, no death can ever come.

First, darling baby Gerald, who was born July 16, 1912, went away June 9, 1914, to the beautiful city to be "Safe in the arms of Jesus." He was followed by Victor on Saturday morning, June 14, at the age of 5 years and 8 months, and on Monday, June 16, Alfred aged 7 years and 11 months, went to join the others. A little sister, Esther, died a few years ago at the age of two years and two months.

It is said that our minds cannot comprehend the joys He has in store in heaven for those who love Him, and surely heaven is still more glorious and grand since you have such precious treasures there. You would not call them back if you could dear Father, thou knowest that the parents weep only because of the parting from their babies as they think of the long years to come without hearing their precious voices, but help them to see only the brighter side and to thank Thee for the little one Thou has left them.

Alfred and Victor were unusually intelligent and lovable little fellows, and will be sadly mised by their teacher and playmates with whom they were favorites, and by their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. FLISINGER, with whom they always spent the summer months, spreading sunshine everywhere. They had a pleasant smile for everyone, especially every child who came to grandpa's store. They were inseparable companions through life and even in death, one followed the other.

Funeral services were conducted at the home of Rev. PRESS and the litle forms in snowly caskets were borne away to the Evangelical St. Paul's cemetery, followed by a number of relatives and friends who brought many and beautiful flowers. The little graves side by side were completely hidden by the flowers.  --J.M.H.
