Obituary for Minnie May Dyer (1870-1913)
No. 042 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.

Mrs. Minnie May DYER, was born September 12, 1870, and died, Oct. 9, 1913, aged 43 years and 27 days.

The death of this good woman, though not unexpected, cast a gloom of sadness over our vicinity. She was one of our noble Christian mothers. She was the daughter of George and Nancy J. HARRELL, two highly esteemed citizens of Lincoln county. She was married to John D. DYER, August 19, 1896, and eight children were born to this union. The youngest, little Charles HOWARD, "went away" last May and was at the landing on the other side of the River of Death to welcome mother's coming.

When she was about 20 years of age she united with the Presbyterian church and remained a consistent member of that church until about seven years ago, when she and her husband united with the Christian church at Troy. Her faith was clear and strong and her hope was bright, she was truly a devoted wife and mother, full of energy; going even beyond her physical powers to minister to her own. Her life, though brief, was rich and full and a glorious reward is hers now. She left here her father and mother, three sisters, five brothers, her husband and seven children, together with a host of friends to mourn her going away. The funeral was held at the home, conducted by her pastor, Rev. M.D. DUDLEY last Friday afternoon and the body laid to rest under a bank of beautiful flowers, in the Troy cemetery.

Mother, thou hast left us,
Thy loss we deeply feel;
But 'tis God that has bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.
Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When the day of life is fled;
And in heaven with joy to greet thee,
Where no farewell tears are shed.

--M.D.D.
