Obituary for Lena Gerken Creech (d1919)
No. 034 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of
Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.
Memorial to Mrs. W.H.CREECH.
In loving memory of our dear wife, daughter and sister, Lena Gerken CREECH, who entered into rest March 3, 1919.
I cannot say and I will not say
That she is dead; she is just away.
With a cheery smile and a wave of the hand
She has wandered into an unknown land,
And left us dreaming how very fair
It need be, since she lingers there.
Mild and gentle as she was brave
When the sweetest love of her life she gave,
To simple things; where the violets grew
Blue as the eyes they were likened to-
The touches of her hand have strayed
As reverently as her lips have prayed
When the little brown thrush that harshly chirred
Was dear to her as the mocking bird-
And she pitied as much as a woman in pain
A writhing honey-bee wet with rain-
Think of her as the same, I say;
She is not dead, she is just away.
Sadly missed by those that love you.
