Obituary for Catherine (Emmerson) Creech (1837-1912)
No. 033 - Uncited clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" of Beth Rengers Talken, 1998.


Mrs. Catherine CREECH died at her home near Moscow Monday, November 11, at 9 a.m., aged 74 years, 11 months and 24 days, following an illness of six weeks. In the death of Mrs. CREECH another old resident has passed away, and one who had lived in the county since her girlhood days. Mrs. CREECH's maiden name was Catherine EMMERSON, her parents being Mr. and Mrs. Daniel EMMERSON, highly repected citizens of St. Charles county. She was born Nov. 15, 1837, and was married twice, her first husband being George PIERCE who resided at Chain of Rocks. To this union five children were born, all of whom are dead. Her second husband was George CREECH; after their marriage they removed to the farm where Mrs. CREECH died. Five children was the result of this marriage, Mrs. George WILKINSON of Old Monroe, Mrs. MARTIN of Mississippi, Mrs. Wright HARRIS of Moscow and Misses Kate and Effie CREECH, who resided with their mother on the old home place. Mrs. CREECH also leaves several step children and a half-sister, Mrs. John E. SCOTT. Mr. CREECH died about 30 years ago. The funeral was held Wednesday morning from the Troy Catholic church, where requieum mass was celebrated by Rev. Father SCHLATHOELTER, after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery of that congregation.


Note regarding clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection":  Neva Murphy Hubbard (1886-1971) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO.  She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents. The majority of the clippings were without citation. Beth Rengers Talken, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion in our Lincoln County Heritage Records.
