Funeral services for Harry Charles BRUMMELL, 81-year-old retired Troy businessman, was set for 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, May 28, from the Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home in Troy, with interment in the Troy City Cemetery. Rev. Joseph TODD, pastor, of the First Christian Church of Troy, was the minister in charge.
Mr. BRUMMELL passed away in the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital in Troy, Monday, May 26, where he had been a patient for several days.
Born July 7th, 1881, on a farm near Flint Hill, he was the son of Joseph and Julia Cheek BRUMMELL. He was married to the former Miss Pearl JANES, of Troy, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Joseph of Rolla, Kenneth of Bolivar, and Merlin of Carmichael, California; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. BRUMMELL was the last of the 12 children in his family.
For many years, Mr. BRUMMELL farmed in the Troy area. In the 1930's he and his wife opened and operated Brumell's Butcher Shop on Main Street of Troy. They continued to operate this until during World War II. He retired after closing his place of business.
Mr. BRUMMELL was a member of the First Baptist Church of Troy.
Note regarding clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection": Neva Murphy Hubbard (1886-1971) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO. She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents. The majority of the clippings were without citation. Beth Rengers Talken, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion in our Lincoln County Heritage Records.
