Contributor's Note: Salem Reid was the son of Thomas Shannon Reid and his first cousin, Adaline Montgomery Reid (Reid is also her maiden name). Mary Jane Reid was the daughter of John A. R. Shannon and Elizabeth McCampbell, all of whom lived in Lincoln County, Missouri. Attention is also directed to the Obituaries of Salem Reid and Mary Jane Shannon and to the Reid Cemetery near Okete where this family is buried.
