The following are excerpts from an article written by Elsie JAMISON WILKS for the Tekoa, WA Centennial (I’ve only included information in the article that relates to the JAMISON’s that moved form Lincoln Co., MO and finally settled in Washington. I’ve added the information in italics for clarity.) This article did not discuss the move back to Missouri and the families return to CA.

Father (Alfred Montgomery JAMISON) as a young man, had come across the plains from Missouri, to the California gold rush in 1849. Mother (Sarah Ann MCCOY), a girl of ten years, also came from Missouri to California in 1852, with her folks ( James and Emily J. HOPWOOD MCCOY).

My father, Alfred M. JAMISON, my mother, Sarah Ann, my uncle, Albro JAMISON, my younger brother, Ralph M. and myself Elsie Irene arrived in Tekoa on August 2nd, 1898.

We had left our home, ten miles southeast of San Diego, California, on April 27,1898, traveling by wagon and hack with four horses. We were on the road three months and five days; we didn't travel every day of that time but about once a Week or ten days, when We could find a good camping grounds with water and feed for the horses, we would stay over a day, and do our washing and rest our horses. We had to keep our horses shod all the time. We had our tent which we put up every night when traveling; we also had feather beds to put down each night. My uncle Albro did this chore for us; we also had a sheet iron camping stove and we were able to prepare very good meals, even bake biscuits.

We came by Los Angeles, Bakersfield, Fresno, Merced, Sacramento, Chico in California; Burns, John Day and Pendleton, Athena, Milton, in Oregon; Walla Walla, Star-buck, Colfax, Oakesdale, then Tekoa. My father rented from his cousin Sam JAMISON (Samuel Louis JAMISON born in Lincoln Co., MO 1849) the Lone Pine quarter of land, and we moved into the house, part of which a few years before had been used as a post office between Walla Walla and Cheney.
