Zincite was laid out as a town and a post office was established in 1886 and it also had a newspaper. In the 1880's it had three lodges, one of them being a G.A.R. Post of 50 members. It had two churches, a playhouse that would seat 400 and several businesses. It thrived for awhile but then declined and soon became a small place.
